A FRAMEWORK
FOR THE FUTURE
Western Port Bay and its surrounds are culturally important, internationally recognised and the foundation of a thriving tourist economy — while also supporting communities and industry whose impacts need to be carefully managed.
The bay is Victoria’s only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a Ramsar wetland of international importance, attracting visitors from around the world to its wildlife, islands and waterways. But this vital wetland, and the wildlife, communities and livelihoods that depend on it, are at serious risk.
Without a comprehensive plan for its future, urban growth, industrial development, climate disruption, poor water quality and inadequate planning will continue to take their toll on the health of the bay.

The Problem
The health of Western Port Bay is in serious decline.
Pressure from inappropriate commercial and residential development, and climate change are taking their toll on the natural systems of the Bay.

We’ve joined together to develop a community, science-led solution to the growing challenges our bay faces.
Now we need our elected representatives to back the plan and commit to the framework in 2023, so that there is time to implement it in this term of Government.
